About

Hi I’m Kate, an assistant ranger for the South Downs National Park.

I’m 23 and am currently at the start of my career into conservation and ecology, armed with a degree in ecology, vast voluntary experience and a handful of vocational qualifications.

I’m most interested in landscape ecology, species recovery and facilitating the movement of species in response to range stresses such as global warming/habitat degradation. My work is mostly focused on the restoration of wooded heathland and acid grassland, however I also have a weakness for wetlands, especially the birdlife associated.

This blog is intended to record all the different and interesting things I get up to and hopefully encourage others to become interested the wilderness too!
